異世界迷宮でハーレムを --- Anime Series Review (25/08/2022 - 23/04/2025)

 Date Created: 18/04/2025 19:04

(Finished reading the manga, up to Volume 7, some time between 26/04/2021 and 25/03/2022.)

Started Watching: 25/08/2022 (From the note.)

Finished: 23/04/2025

I really liked the manga, which I read a long time ago, and I was looking forward to the anime. My first thought is that it feels a little rushed. When I read the manga, I recall that the main character took a long time to get Roxanne. I also would have liked to have seen it uncensored — but that almost never comes out right in anime.

(The above message, dated 08/09/2022, was copied from an old note on my phone, which is also where I got the date I started watching the anime, 25/08/2022.)

I read the manga for this a long time ago and really loved it. I didn't read it to completion, since it was ongoing at the time -- and it still is! (Volume 11 of the manga was released on 26/02/2025)

Sherry's [the purple dwarf-girl's] ark had only started when I had finished reading what was available of the manga (up until the end of Volume 7). This means I must have read it more than 3 years ago; Volume 8 was released on 25/03/2022, and I think I read part of that later on before dropping it -- I liked it best when it was just Michio [the main character] and Roxanne.

I remember being surprised when the anime premiered in Summer 2022 (what felt like much after I had read the manga) -- even though the manga was amazing, I never thought it would get an adaptation because it was ecchi (which I thought was niche at the time). 懐かしいな~

What I liked most about the manga is that you could really relate to the flaws of the main character; he worked hard to get Roxanne and looked after her. And he isn't the usual dumb, shy protagonist -- and Roxanne is incredibly cute too!

I started watching the anime again from the start. Although I read the manga, I didn't watch much of the anime and I have forgotten a lot of what happened. Looking at it with a fresh pair of eyes, I am not disappointed -- it really is excellent, and the main character's reactions, if not realistic, are relatable and easy to understand.

I'm at Episode 3 and the MC is just so cool with his info gathering and fighting ability! Also, I like how he feels conflicted about killing the bandits; I think I said this before but, to me, that makes him feel very real.

Rating (Out of 5): 5 (The manga deserves a 6.)
